Debbie Hecht
Debbie was elected to the Town Board last November and currently serves as your Deputy Town Supervisor.
Her husband Sean works for the MTA as a subway dispatcher, and they’re a proud union family. Their daughter, Ruby, is 14 years old, and will be graduating from middle school this June.
Debbie is a community organizer and activist. She is the co-founder of Rhinebeck’s first ever Pride organization, BeckHook Pride. She served on the Rhinebeck Democratic Committee for years, working hard to get fellow Democrats elected, and she was the focus of Pat Ryan’s pro-choice ad in his 2024 election. She has worked with Starr Library as an employee, a volunteer, and a collaborator. She is also the co-founder of the Town’s Communications Committee, which was formed in the knowledge that an engaged community and good governance go hand in hand.
Debbie has a PhD in Classics from Columbia University. She’s an avid knitter and an aspiring gardener. She is an environmentalist, a preservationist, and a conservationist.
Debbie is running as a steward for Rhinebeck to continue to protect and preserve our rural and historic character. Debbie is currently working on a tourism capacity study and a hydrology study of town-wide wells and aquifers. This information will ensure that our infrastructure and natural resources do not become overwhelmed, our drinking water remains healthy, and our environment doesn’t become irrevocably damaged as we continue to grow. Debbie believes that the community needs to decide at what point tourism and development exacts too high a cost on our quality of life as Rhinebeck residents
Debbie has said that Rhinebeck is a small town of neighborhoods and she understands that each neighborhood is dealing with its own specific issues. As Supervisor, Debbie will continue to meet with residents where they live so that she can best represent them at Town Hall.
Debbie Hecht is very excited about this new chapter for Rhinebeck, and is grateful for the time she has been able to spend talking with all of you on doorsteps and at community gatherings.

Amanda Miller
A resident of Rhinebeck since 2015, Amanda Miller brings a potent blend of high-level legal expertise, financial acumen, and unyielding dedication to her community. Raised in a working-class Long Island neighborhood where her mother worked two jobs and her father was the primary caregiver at home, Amanda learned the values of grit, equity, and hard work early on. She went on to graduate from Duke University with a bachelor’s degree in history before earning her J.D. from New York Law School, eventually rising to become a partner at a premier New York City plaintiff’s class action law firm focusing on commodity futures and antitrust litigation.
In that role, Amanda spent years holding large corporations and global banks accountable for market manipulation, litigating and winning against the world’s elite white-shoe defense firms. It was also during this period of high-stakes litigation that she met her husband, fellow attorney Chris McGrath. Today, they are raising their two children right here in the Rhinebeck community.
For the last five years, Amanda has operated a successful local real estate law firm, managing hundreds of transactions annually for local families and businesses. Alongside her private practice, Amanda maintains a fierce commitment to pro bono legal service, offering a vital lifeline to the community's most vulnerable residents. Most notably, she co-authored the emergency habeas corpus petition and assembled the team that successfully halted the deportation of local resident Gerson Turcios, allowing Mr. Turcios to decide if he wanted to stay in the U.S. and fight to come back home to Rhinebeck.
Amanda’s decision to run for Town Supervisor stems from her belief that local government must work actively and transparently for the people it serves. Her platform bridges rigorous fiscal responsibility with visionary progress. As Supervisor, Amanda is committed to demanding absolute government transparency, and eliminating "behind-closed-doors" executive decisions.
Some of her priorities include a new Town website, solving Brookemeade’s zoning issue, lights at the soccer field, a Community Housing Fund, leaf pick up in Rhinecliff, expanding safe village sidewalks for students and seniors, and renewing the Town’s commitment to a ride service for seniors.
Whether navigating complex multi-million dollar litigation, guiding a neighbor through a property closing, or volunteering her time for local families, Amanda is guided by an unwavering sense of fairness and a strict "people over party" philosophy. She is ready to bring accountable, energetic leadership to the town board and ensure a safe, inclusive, and prosperous future for all of Rhinebeck.
